Due to the nature of vampirism, the look of these creatures weighs heavily
on the race of the victim. Almost always taking the form of a humanoid,
vampires can be distinguished due to the paleness of their skin pigment.
Traits and Abilities:
Over countless years the vampire has evolved to better suit itself to its
surroundings. Gaining the ability to see in the darkness of night as well as
move silently through the shadows. Unlike any other race, the vampire also
has the ability to pass through solid objects without the use of spell. The
mind of a vampire is intelligent and aware, it grants the creature an
immunity to all forms of mental manipulation. Leading a life of darkness,
vampires have come to be resistant to the cold of the night, although in turn
they have grown a vulnerability to the light of day.
Although the origin of the vampire is unknown, it has existed for ages as
some evolutionary leap from humans. Unlike the conventional races of the
known worlds, the vampire does not reproduce. Instead it spreads the curse
of vampirism along through ritualistic practices that have yet to be defined.
There is a great deal of speculation in regards to where these practices
originated. While there is no evidence to support any theories to date, the
first recorded vampire sightings were some time ago. Two creatures that were
known as Vavarkis and Landyn. A connection between these two has never been
identified, however their presences were recorded at nearly the same point in
time. Since the time the two first emerged, the vampire population has
increased a great deal. Rumors of a vampiric council have always been in
circulation, however it was not until recently that these reports were
confirmed. Expanding the vampiric race is never a decision made lightly and
is generally never done without the approval of the council. This is done to
ensure that the race not be weakened with addition of "poor bloods". Those
that carry the traits of physical and mental weakness in their blood.
However, there are those that function outside the realm of the council.
Spreading the seed as often as they so desire. Although it has been observed
that once a vampire is created without the consent of the council, the
creature is forever marked an outsider and will more then likely be killed
should a member of the vampire covenant learn of its existance. The prey of
a vampire ranges from most humanoid life forms to the very beasts that roam
freely in Draknor. Naturally, some lifeforms are preyed upon more then
others, yet it is generally a question of taste and preference. Generally,
vampires are quite sadistic, and always cruel. They are known to care little
for the lives of others and are sympathetic only to their inner circles,
which is not always so. Of course, as in any race abnormalities can sway a
creature away from its inherent lifestyle. Although this has been observed
to be particularly rare in the vampiric lore.
