Treants are immense beings who are essentially sentient trees. They live much
of their lives rooted to the ground, but are able to remove themselves and
walk, if they so desire. The Treants tend to be very conservative in their
decisions, but resolute and decisive in action. Many believe Treants to be
easy targets because they appear to move so slowly, but their extremely long
stride allows them to cover large distances very quickly.
Traits and Abilities:
Treants are very strong, but their large size completely prohibits any
ability to sneak, preventing them from becoming highwaymen. They are of only
moderate intelligence making their spellcasting ability quite limited, except
for healing magic, which comes from their close link to nature. Their skin
is quite thick, armoring them greatly, but being made out of wood, they are
very vulnerable to fire.
Unlike many other races, Treants are not a result of any godly intervention
or magical force. Instead, they are simply a natural evolution of the very
old forests from which they came. First they slowly achieved sentience
through a sort of telepathy, although their communication occurred through
their roots instead of by any mental powers. This led them to evolve their
roots' mobility to aid in communicating with other Treants, eventually being
able to uproot themselves completely.
